You can lengthen your health span. Yes, as a matter of fact you can!! Do you believe it?
I believe it!
I am reading a book called BIOMARKERS. It explains that with their program you can lengthen your health span. It makes perfect sense!
We know that our blood cells (120 days), and our bone cells ( 7 years) and most all other cells in our body are replaced over time.
So if that is true, then we should be able to make ourselves healthier doing the right types of things with ourselves! Wouldn’t you think?
The 10 “Biomarkers” for this program are as follows
1. Your Muscle Mass
2. Your Strength
3. Your Basal Metabolic Rate
4. Your Body Fat Percentage
5. Your Aerobic Capacity
6. Your Body’s Blood-Sugar Tolerance
7. Your Cholesterol/HDL Ratio
8. Your Blood Pressure
9. Your Bone Density
10. Your Body’s Ability to Regulate Its Internal Temperature
Given this list, it is exciting to see what is available to STAY YOUNG!! For me, it makes big sense.. If we exercise properly and use a program regularly we can indeed make great changes to our bodies. IF we are willing to do what it takes… Many people think that aging “is what just happens and we don’t have any control over it”. NO matter what..
Many people see health through the prism of appearance and vanity. Many have little concept of what real fitness or physical well-being are all about. Do you believe you can slow down how old you are?? (that isn’t just the age you have cause your birth certificate says you are that old!)
There definitely are things that happen with age that will be indicators that we are getting older. BUT we don’t have to take it sitting down. (so to speak!!)
If you knew how to help yourself age less quickly would you be willing to participate in that which helped you? How much do you think you would be willing to do?
I really believe that our body’s decline is due to combined effects of inactivity, poor nutrition and illness (much of which can be controlled).
What’s your take on the matter? Do you believe that you can lengthen your health span?
PS. I will go into the specific ‘Biomarkers” in the next few posts, to give you some more insight into what you can do for your ‘future’ aging!

You’ve been preaching this doctrine for ages, but I have to admit, now that you bring ‘anti-aging’ into the discussion, I’m all ears!!
(Vain, but true!)
Looking forward to your series, sweetie. You have a knack of making all this stuff USEABLE for non-athletic types like me. lol

Before taking on any of this, I always say that there has to be a positive change in a person’s mentality to be able to succeed. I apply most of the concepts of this to my own exercise regimen and on top of my positive outlook, I feel better than ever. So, maybe in 10 or 20 years, I will still be feeling in my 20s…lol

I had not heard of these biomarkers before, but they seem to make a lot of sense to me, Holly. Since this is my first time to read about them, I went to the original post, but I’m looking forward to following up by reading the others.
(as well as that of others.)
As one of the chronologically gifted, I am very interested in my own health

Holly as they say better late than never. I have never so interested in health as I am now key word that triggers me “anti aging” Too bad when I was young I acted like it would last forever so typical according to conversations I have had with others in my age group. Thank you for the fantastic info.

I chuckle as you I read your line about how you acted as if it would last forever.. I think many of us have that idea in our minds!!
Anti aging is definitely something to work on… And starting late doesn’t mean you will miss the ‘race’ so to speak.. Just do it!! Start now and you’ll just get better!
This is a great post. I am new to the “biomarkers” concept. I have heard of stuff similar but love the way you put it. I am looking forward to learning to grow myself through your series. Time to read up!

Good to hear you are new to the “biomarkers” concept. More of us need to get in the groove shall I say. It will help us lengthen the health span for sure!! Thanks for stopping by Kyle!
Hi Holly. I’m still undecided about what we can do to live longer, healthier lives. When I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1977, I was 27 years old. Since that time, I’ve never smoked, drank alcohol, or drank coffee or tea. That was a covenant I made, and I am incredibly healthy, even though I don’t have the most healthy diet. I’ve always worked out, walked, bicycled, hiked until I got fibro, and now I have started doing stretching and some walking, which has really helped.
People have a hard time believing that I’m 64, but I really attribute it to a happy life and obeying the Word of Wisdom. It seems like a new theory comes out every week, but a happy heart is such good medicine. I’ll look forward to reading your series.
All the best,
Leslie
