Since I’m moving in towards 60 at the end of the year, does that mean I have to double this up? :-)

I am starting training for my 8th 3-Day, 60-mile walk for breast cancer so that’s always good motivation. I love walking, but the rest is a challenge. I will definitely check out the posts for other ideas. Thanks, Holly!

Well I won’t say you have to double it, no! But keep it up! And as much as you can encourage, motivate and inspire yourself to do some muscle work and stretching, balance and posture work, the better. The biggest decline in physical ability is from 60-69 so you are at the right place in time to move it and strengthen it! Yeah, Cathy! Keep coming back for more great exercises to do.

  2. Guess I better get to reading these! I’m not moving, except to the shower, the bed, the computer and an occassional trip to Wal-Mart :( Thanks for the reminder,

Reminders are good! If I could figure out how to get everyone to actually work out through the day, I would be the magic pill that everyone needs to get moving!! Keep doing what you are doing and keep working on getting in more!! Thanks, Tammy!

  3. Well, thanks for the reminder! I’m not moving very much at the moment.

My goal is to start walking. But at the moment, my allergies are getting in the way of that one. I need to find an alternate until the pollen infusion slows down a bit.

Doing some body weight exercises indoors is a great way to get you going at this time of year! Outside can be a hazard with allergies, that is why strengthening you while you are indoors is a perfect alternative!! You are going to hear from me ( if you haven’t already read) that walking is great, but we want to be strong, flexible and have great posture and balance. Starting where you are at, not where you should be or think you should be!! Keep telling yourself that you really will benefit from that movement. We will get you moving more!! Have you checked out my tips and tricks? You can do things right at your desk inside! Thanks for stopping by and commenting, Jeanine.

  4. Holly’s got it right! We need to walk 6 miles a week to keep our brain at optimal levels. And, other exercise helps preclude disease and promote cardiac health.

  5. I’m beyond 40 but I believe I really need this. I’m kinda exhausted at work and that I even forgot when was the last time I had an exercise. LOL..

    Great post..

If you really believe that you need this, then you are likely right. Get strong and then do your best to stay strong! No sense going out weak! Good luck any questions, just let me know, Lynne!

So Sapir, what are you going to do to move it up!! What changes are you going to make? Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment!

  7. You are right on target with this one! I am quickly approaching 40…and I tell you, things just don’t move like they used to. I have some issues with my lower back that prevent me from doing somethings I used to, but the stretching exercises of YOGA have helped loosen up some of the muscles/nerves in my back and freed me to MOVE it better! Thanks for sharing these and reminding us that if we don’t MOVE IT WE LOSE IT!

Thanks for stopping by, Regina! Just remember that if that is what you feel like at approaching 40, you want to make sure it doesn’t feel way worse when you are approaching 50 or 60.. Start now and you will reap the benefits!! Great for you to be doing some yoga.

  8. Holly,

I know I need to “move it” too but for some reason I have rebelled against exercise since I was in high school. I do try to walk in the evenings but sometimes even then in Florida it is so hot, I don’t even get that done.

Great motivation and information. Keep up the good work.

Yes, it can be a challenge to get moving. If I had the magic pill to get everyone to do it, I would be very rich and famous!! It is something we have to decide is important enough for ourselves. Find something that you enjoy so that you will do it, Monna. It really is worth the whole journey. The body is so amazing you will feel the benefits! Although you might go through some kick back to begin with!

  9. Hi there,

The title of the articles are catchy to the eyes of the reader. And what more if they will read the content. As what you have said, at the age of 40 we need to move, to exercise so that we can maintain and sexy and healthy body. Others said that when you reach this age, you are experiencing a lot of pains or diseases. So we need to take care of ourselves and eat a healthy diet.

    • Holly Fulford-Jeffrey says:

Yes exercise is a huge part of it, to have that sexy healthy body, with strength and posture, balance, flexibility and endurance. Eating is a whole different ball game!! SO important!!!! Although eating a healthy diet isn’t going to give you all you need either. Supplementing to make up for the toxicity of our environment and lifestyles will help. It is a big plan to be healthy and sexy! Thanks for leaving your comments.

    • Holly Fulford-Jeffrey says:

Great to hear it has helped get your asthma under control! Besides the obvious benefits, there are way too many to mention! Exercise is too good to miss out on!! Thanks, Alina!
