Why Workout?

Have you ever asked yourself that?  Why workout?  You probably know why… but you just don’t make the effort to do so.. or not consistent enough effort!!

I’m going to give you a bit more insight as to why you should workout… just in case you need a little more prodding as to why it might be important for you and your body!!

The most plain and simple reason to work out is so that your muscles don’t get smaller and weaker!! Yup, it’s that simple!!  And don’t use the excuse that your muscle turns to fat, cause it doesn’t [...] Continue Reading…

The Biggest Loser… Loses!

In my opinion!  I have often been asked about what I think about the Biggest Loser.. and I often strayed away from answering.. Of course… I was worried about the back lash… Well… I’ve decide that I’m not going to hold my tongue about it anymore…

I think the Biggest Loser… Loses!!  Sucks.. whatever you want to call it… I don’t think it’s a good way to go!  I don’t think it is healthy!  And I don’t think we get the whole picture of what is really happening behind the scenes with all the contestants and drop out participants!!

So How’d I Get Like This?

How come “all of a sudden” I can’t bend over to tie my shoes, I have so much difficulty walking up the stairs without stopping, or I can’t pull my arm back enough to get on my jacket?  How’d I get like this?

How did this happen?

It’s not that we wake up one day and it’s just changed… it takes time. BUT all of a sudden we notice and we can’t do something!!

I think over time we let little things happen and we don’t give it a lot of the thought.  So little things happen along the way …. and [...] Continue Reading…

Does Exercise Ever Get Easier?

Does it??  I’ve been asked that a lot!!  ”Does it ever get easier?”

And I am going to say no.. unless you stop pushing to get better.  Yes, if you are only going through the motions.

To get your systems to improve you have to push them.  It doesn’t have to be real intense but  you have to push them.

So that would mean, if you are doing weight training, you have to choose to pick up heavier weights… If you want to breathe easier in a run or walk you have to push yourself to improve your cardiovascular system. Strolling along [...] Continue Reading…

Everyone Needs To Do Yoga!! Yes Everyone!!

Yes, everyone needs to do Yoga!!  Absolutely Everyone!!

Now, that doesn’t mean that everyone needs to go over board ( as I call it ) and do really intense upside down poses and chanting and meditations and all that.

I’m talking the poses and postures that give you range of motion.  Now Yoga isn’t just about stretching but I’ll get into that in another post some day, but I’m talking the physical part of stretching out.

When we exercise we use muscles and they get tighter after a work out.  If we are strengthening the muscles they will tighten up… So, [...] Continue Reading…

I Don’t Like How That Feels! Gotta Start Somewhere!

Have you ever done a workout or exercise and you don’t like how it feels?  It makes you work more than you’re used to?

Have you ever done a workout or an exercise and you push to a point where you pushed too far?

We often expect more out of our bodies than what we should be doing.. People  come to classes and try to keep up with the “Jones’s.  Even though they haven’t done exercise for some time they want to do what everyone else is doing.  I’m sure you know people like this.  I don’t know if that’s any [...] Continue Reading…
